Two dozen times. McCain dug his own grave on this one...

Why? Because 'Joe the Plumber''s "story" is more compelling than saying a (wealthy) small percentage of you will have your taxes go up under Obama's plan. That doesn't sell the issue to the majority of middle class (or 90-something percent who will get a tax cut under Obama) viewers... but "hey, if you work hard and get to a point where you can become an entrepreneur, you are going to be penalized for your hard work." does (or at least more so)... why not come out and say that, instead of keeping on this fake life story? Or, how about this... even easier: find a guy (or gal) that it really applies to and make them the centerpiece of your debate? That would have been too easy, huh?

To me, it just seems as if the McCain campaign has repeatedly shown they aren't very interested in the details, which is a big deal when you want to be a leader of a world super power (in my opinion.)

Re: Joe the (unlicensed) Plumber?

What's the point? This is merely a cheap attempt to discredit a guy who made some valid points. This information has no real bearing on the points he was making. A fine example of not only yellow, but blatantly biased "journalism." Scary stuff. She highlights ten steps a nation almost always takes (either a right wing or left wing government) in closing a society. Steps include spying in citizens, controlling the media, and privatizing militias.

One of the most concerning moments of her talk occurred when an audience member asked a question regarding her Naomi’s knowledge of Continuance of Governance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuity_of_gove...) discussions in the military. The man asking the question described that he was a member of a military family and that there are strong debates occurring within the military right now about their role in a COG situation. Remember the military answers to the commander in chief, and they do not answer to the people. Coupled with ignoring Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act the topic of Naomi’s work starts to sound less and less like a conspiracy theory.

Unfortunately, if everything goes smoothly and Obama wins, the system will not correct itself. It is highly unlikely that Obama wouldn’t use the expanded powers of the executive branch to his own advantage, and without reversing this trend, future presidents, including republicans, will continue to have and abuse these new powers as well. Obama is not the solution to fixing the system, and I say this as an Obama supporter. We have to remember this after he wins and continue pushing for reform.

Re: McCain wins debate!

The sign of a good leader is if their capable of preemptively saying they won... even before the battle's over... just like Bush's "Mission Accomplished" ;)

Re: Declare bankruptcy, get a (huge) bonus

This is the very same stunt that Delphi/the auto industry and steel companies pulled-your Dad being one of many victims in this country. The tabloid, half truth, spin-it-to-death stories? It sure seems like those are the ones they are pushing, because they have no where to stand on the real issues.

I mean, what excites you about McCain? If you make under $250k per year, you'll get a better tax break; some kind of universal health care; more focus on the environment and alternative, renewable energies; focus on actually improving education (rather than a policy with a snappy name that doesn't do anything, like Bush); someone who actually understands the constitution and defends it; and someone who acknowledges that the economy is actually doing pretty poorly for a vast majority of Americans -- with Obama.

Palin and McCain don't talk about those issues very much, because they can't compete. Their campaign manager even says so... it tells you a lot about the campaign, when both acceptance speeches didn't touch on very many key issues (McCain's) or none at all (Palin).

Re: No Questions!

Bada-bing!!!! Church defends Wright

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright is an outstanding church leader whom I have heard speak a number of times," Snyder wrote. "He has served for decades as a profound voice for justice and inclusion in our society. To evaluate his dynamic ministry on the basis of two or three sound bites does a grave injustice to Dr. Wright, the members of his congregation, and the African-American church which has been the spiritual refuge of a people that has suffered from discrimination, disadvantage, and violence. Dr. Wright, a member of an integrated denomination, has been an agent of racial reconciliation while proclaiming perceptions and truths uncomfortable for some white people to hear. Those of us who are white Americans would do well to listen carefully to Dr. Wright rather than to use a few of his quotes to polarize."

Re: Speaking of Religion and Politics…

I believe this needs as much airing as the Rev wright controversy. Why have Americans forgotten this concept? Also, it appears that my favored canidiate is not yours, which I already knew, but I thought I'd throw that in anyway. Although I tend to steer clear of political discussions, I always find it interesting how much candidate bashing goes on during the campaigns. I think it's pretty safe to say that they all have screwed up in the past, they all have flopped on the issues and they all have lied at some point in their career to make themselves look better. That being said, I don't care who they worship or what religious establishment they attend. As long as they are not an extremist in any way, I think having diverse presidents from a plethora of religious and cultural backgrounds is beneficial to the US.
